It is not a new or genius conclusion to say that the Arabic character is suffering schizophrenia on the level of structural values, which depends in its appearances on daily social attitudes.
It is in fact a natural schizophrenia because of the modernization course of the Arab countries after independence. It is a course of division where the regimes of these countries have taken the values and ideas that suit them and ignored what bothers them and contradicts the characteristics of their interests of totalitarian rule.
The modernization orientation was generally focusing on education and health, while the political and intellectual modernization, promotion of freedom of creation, thinking, expression values and respect of individual freedom for building citizenship development used to be taboos.
This ruling, with its suppression and fear mechanisms has generated passive communities that lack neutrality. This explains the phenomenon of retreat of the Arabs in creativity, scientific and cultural issues because the Arab atmosphere is not fit for creativity and innovation, as it is an environment that is not free and monitored by the state and its systems which are governed by values against creativity and against the Arab individuality and independence.
Within this context and by adopting this frank diagnosis, the obstacles that blocked the individual's capacity and potentials, and make it appear as a person with limited culture and civilization could be understood.
On basis of this cultural and political explanation, it could be understood why the Arabs have been eliminated from the international scientific circles as well as their absence from the leading innovations, inventions and the great global awards. Even the small number of Arab scientists who showed the Arabs ability in innovation fields, have reached these position because of the adoption of the west to their scientific minds and the employment of their talents for the benefit of the west scientific progress.
It is notable that the trend of the Arab spring in 2011 which broke out for undertaking structural reforms in some countries, has not limited this Arabic schizophrenic attitude, however it had highlighted it even to the extent that causes despair. This can be noted in terms of the desperate demand for freedom and democracy, for example and the desperate opposition to works of art and daring creativity on the other hand.
As voices cry for human rights and equality, we don't find in the political and civil practices what supports this call, disclosing that the elites cannot go beyond a system that is full of barriers, warnings and arbitrary red lights. Such atmospheres contribute to the elimination of woman with different mechanisms and treat it as a creature that is incapable of practicing political,
Syndicalistic and other activities. This reveals aspects of undeclared political conflict which emphasizes the management of post-revolutionary culture with non-revolutionary and undemocratic mentalities.
There are some who struggle within the Arab revolution for dignity for polygamy as an issue that is equal to intellectual freedom and multi party issues. It is a messing up of demands with contradictory of the values and references.
It is a mess up that reflects the deep schizophrenia of deep hesitation between the traditional and modern structures.
It is not correct to believe that it is easy to cure such schizophrenia. It requires restructure of the Arab individual and that is the responsibility of the individual himself, the elites and the state. There is no guaranteed bet on a nation that most of its individuals are suffering schizophrenia and fragmentation.
