Twenty-first of February would be the day of national consensus. From that date, Yemenis would have new president. For the first time, the new president for united Yemen would be at an equal distance from the people of Yemen in the north, south, east, west and center. In the future, the president will come from Sa'adah, Hadramout, Taiz, Tehama or any other province. He may be from "the origin of Qahtan", "descendant of Adnan" or from the origin of Turkish, African or Indian migrants, but it is important not to be biased in terms of tribe or family which he may take care of their interests, ignoring other people.
Our next president will have to be Zaidi and Shafi at the same time. Most importantly that his heart should accommodate all, so Yemenis would feel that they are close to each other indeed as it is the truth that has been absent from them sometimes because of arrogance. Yemeni people are brothers and cousins. Even if origin and religion do not gather them, it is worthy that they melt in the homeland crucible, work together and establish a respected state and rich human civilization such as many nations do with multiple races and religions in the East and West. Extension of justice and the rule of law and order would strengthen the bonds of national unity and reinforced Yemeni identity. A Yemeni would feel proud of himself and his country wherever he stays or leaves.
Throughout the past years, Vice-President Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi remained with no real power, but he was patient, sedate and respected. We never heard that he complained or abused somebody. From time to another, he overlooks people speaking on several topics, and the local accent of people of Abyan suggests how plain he is for those who do not know the man closely. But for those who know him well, he is a man of responsibility, discipline, integrity, wisdom and arranged logical speech and hard stance in a time of need.
Revolutionaries think that he is close to them, and they may attract him to their side in some moment based on his satisfaction and perceive the need of Yemen to change. Perhaps, many estimated that the absence of Saleh for treatment in Riyadh would make the Vice President take decision called by media sources close to the President "coup" with U.S. encouragement. But he must have said: No, if we admit precisely the lengthy published report.
When hawks of General People's Congress (GPC) alluded that they disavow (GCC) plan after signing it and forming National Reconciliation Government (NRG), as well the President said, in an expanded meeting of the party, that the initiative stalled, the Vice President said in the same meeting, feeling that it was arranged against him, "no everything is going well and we have come a long way. Today is much better than yesterday."
When the hawks of (GPC) kept on being arrogance and held another meeting in which they issued statement returning the situations to quarter one or even close. However, Vice President did not attend their meeting. Accordingly, (GPC) wise men returned to him, adopting him national consensual candidate.
Undoubtedly, Mr. Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi is aware of his presidential task and difficulties and risk surrounding homeland, however, he did not hesitate to accept it and had not hesitate before in behaving with national responsibility in exceptional and dangerous circumstances. He is the one who said no when necessary. He remained in the suitable place and at an equal distance of all. He agreed and disagreed with all parties and agreed here.
In previous articles and interviews including an interview in 2007, I said that the coming president must be southerner. In addition, it is really difficult to imagine passing quarter century of time and that southern president did not enter presidential palace. Southerners had a country, capital city and presidential place. If spring revolution did not occur then it would be catastrophe after 2013. But we thank young men and women of Arab spring in Yemen because their steadfastness, determination, greatness and sacrifices made us about to be in the right side and put everything in its place. A new president for a new Yemen who young people dream of and totally deserve.
